WELCOME TO KATIE'S CORGIS - VKM FARMSTEAD
With great devastation and heartache - Mavis at 4 years old and the 14 puppies she was carrying passed away on April 19th 2022. The puppies were too much on her body and forced the puppies into a premature labor and her heart to gave out. The vet was unable to save her or her babies. Mavis will forever be apart of our hearts and her memory never forgotten.2022
We made the difficult decision to spay and retire Latte at the age of 3 years old after she birthed one litter “Latte x Lev - Star Wars” As wonderful as she and her babies are, this decision was made for her health and safety. She will remain in our life in a pet home in Lake City, FL. 2022
We made the difficult decision to spay and retire Lexi at the age of 3 years old after she birthed two litters Lion King Litter & Little Mermaid Litter for her health and safety. She was diagnosed with a rare and unknown caused health issue that caused her kidney to fill with liquid, after seeing several vets, the decision was made to remove the kidney and have her spayed due to the strain on her body if she were pregnant again. We are devastated by this as we were excited for her future babies but health is always the priority over breeding. She will remain in our life but in her Guardian Home in Jacksonville, FL. 2023
We made the decision to neuter and retire Ludwick at the age of 2 years old after he fathered 3 litters of puppies due to undesirable traits (high energy, shyness) and structures (longer legs) he passed to some of his puppies. He will remain in his guardian home in St. Augustine, FL. 2023
We made the difficult decision to spay and retire Laurel at the age of 3 years old after she birthed one litter “God & Goddness Litter” As wonderful as she and her babies are, this decision was made for her health, safety and genetic defect two of her babies had -overbites. She will retire in her guardian home and live out her life in Yulee, FL. 2023
Due to her safety and wellbeing, we decided to never breed Freya and retire her in her guardian home. She was forfeited to us by her first guardian home however soon after we learned that she had sustained a fracture to her hip under their care. After evaluating several X-rays of her hips and lower lumbar, we decided that the best option was to sterilize her and address the issue at hand. Having puppies would be too much stress on her body and as always, our dogs health comes first. She will live out her life with the Warren Family in Yulee FL with her best friend Laurel. 2023
Ringslee came to us as a younger adult from Brooke Black who owns “Bleu Bayou Corgi’s”. I DO NOT recommend this breeder as Ringslee not only came with heart worms but she was highly unsocialized and I suspect abused too. She came to us terrified of every person and everything new. Long story short, after working with Ringslee for 2 years, I decided she was ready for a “retirement home” with a wonderful couple with a calm home where she can be loved and continue to grow into the dog she deserves to be.Ringslee blessed this world and several families with a total of 10 babies while living with us. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of this sweet girl. 2023
We made the decision to spay and retire Carrie at the age of 3 years old after she blessed us with Yoshka and her Spring litter. Carrie came to us from Russia but she never quite fit into our breeding program. She was retired for her health and we felt she was best suited to be a pet only not in a breeding program. She will live out her days with Ringslee in Dothan, AL. 2024
We decided to retire Milka at 2.5 years old due to a very traumatic whelping experience for her second litter “Beach boys”. Several babies were stuck resulting in several losses and heartaches for both of us. For her sake, we decided it was best if she didn’t have another litter. Milka will live out her days with her son Drax and her wonderful guardian home in Jesup, GA. She will remain on our lives and visit often. 2024
Roxi loved being a momma and was great with her puppies but we decided to retire her due to poor conformation and petite structure. We will continue to see Roxi. She will live out her days in Chuluota, FL with her guardian home 2024
Beau arrived to us in 2023 from Ukraine with a very concerning undisclosed old back injury. Despite the injury not being genetic we decided it was best for Beau to not be part of part of our breeding program due to poor conformation. He will live out his days in Jacksonville, FL with his loving guardian home. 2024.
Sadie loved being a momma and was great with her puppies but we decided to retire her due to poor conformation and petite structure. She also struggled with her one and only litter so it was an easy decision to retire her as health / well being of our dogs is always the priority! Sadie will live out her days in Florida with a dedicated family that will treat her like a queen like she deserves. October 2024.
We had high hopes for this beautiful girl for our family, breeding program, and as a show dog. Chilly competed against other puppies in AKC and IABCA shows however she developed at underbite at 6 months old. We consulted with 2 veterinary dental specialists, several other cardigan breeder, her breeder, and AKC judges regarding the underbite. They all said that incorrect bites are genetic and can sometimes result in a hefty vet plan to correct the bites. I decided to honor my own morals and to stay true to the genetic health guaranteed in my program that it was best to place Chilly in a pet home. 2024.
